Do I need to keep the cleat after I remove it?
Nope! Toss it and forget about it.
Do I need an electric drill?
It helps, but isn’t necessary.
It doesn’t look even, did I mess up?
Make sure you have pulled both ends of the slat taught and drill in the middle slat first, then each end, then the rest.
